Have you ever wished you could use your voice to earn money?
Maybe youβve heard an audiobook and thought, βI can do that.β Or been told, βYou have a great voice!β
If so, becoming an audiobook narrator or a voiceover job could be your calling.
There are so many opportunities to earn a passive income by reading books out loud and doing voice overs. And with the power of the internet, itβs now easier than ever to do the job at home.
Are voiceover jobs legit?
It is commonly asked if voiceover jobs for beginners are legit. While it can be hard to believe that you can find legit narration jobs from home, it is possible.
And you donβt have to have experience to find narration jobs for Audible or other platforms where you can get paid to read. Iβm living proof that a beginner narrator can earn money as an audiobook narrator.
In 2020, I auditioned for an audiobook job, and nailed my first audition which led to five narration contracts. Iβve shared my stories on my YouTube channel, and now teach others how to land voiceover jobs from home.
And I still collect monthly royalty checks from books I narrated years ago. So, yes, voiceover jobs are legit! And my bank account tells me the checks are real.
Why become an audiobook narrator?
Whether youβre a stay-at-home mom, a student, or a retired individual looking for a side hustle, audiobook narration and voiceover jobs can provide many benefits, including:
- Freedom to make your own schedule
- Work on your terms
- Earn passive income for years after the work is done
How to get started with voiceover work
When it comes to voiceover and narration work, you will need equipment to start recording the audio. This doesnβt mean you should go out and spend $1,000. You will need the basics including a microphone, and computer to save your files.
There are some other minor pieces of equipment that can help you improve your sound which can be found on my Amazon page. There, Iβve put together an audiobook narration idea list with equipment options for all budgets.
Plus, in my Newbie To Narrator Masterclass, an intro to narration course, I give the rundown of the equipment and how to break into audiobook narration the right way.

Once you have audiobook narration equipment to record audio, donβt overthink it. Start auditioning right away.
Many people will sit back and second-guess themselves and end up never submitting a single audition. Donβt let that be you.
