Plus, some will include ways to earn cash by playing games. And the gift cards are sent to your email or within the app or website.

Swagbucks has an app and a website where you can earn points that can be redeemed for free gift cards. Not only does Swagbucks allow you to play games for gift cards (which includes Visa gift cards), but they have many other options including:
- Watching videos
- Answering surveys
- Scanning receipts
- Signing up for offers
Not only can you play games under their “Play” category, but I have an awesome hack to earn BIG by playing games on Swagbucks. This is how:
- Go to Play Games and earn on the home page, or at the top, click “More,” then “Play.”
- Find “Mobile games.”
In that section, you’ll find many apps that you can play for huge amounts of Swagbucks points. I’ve seen some worth over $100! For many of the games, they will require you to reach a certain game level, usually within 30 days. And most require no purchase.
This Grand Mafia game is the perfect example. For reaching level 25, you can earn 10,000 Swagbucks. That’s worth AT LEAST $100 when redeeming for free gift cards.
2. Tada
Tada is a website that is one of the newer ways you can earn cashback and redeem gift cards, through a variety of methods including:
- Playing games
- Shopping online
- Uploading receipts
I really like this one because they give a $10 bonus when you sign up. Just make sure you click the confirmation email they send you, or you’re not eligible for the bonus.
Tada has some great rewards for playing games! Here’s how to find the big ones:
- From the homepage, go to “All Offers.”
- Use the “Choose category” dropdown on the right and go to “Entertainment.”
In that section, you can pick from a bunch of apps. Some are paying upwards of $40 to reach a certain game level.

3. InboxDollars
Swagbucks is awesome, especially if you want to earn gift cards by playing games, watch tv, or answer surveys. Those are just some of the ways you can earn free gift cards with Swagbucks. And if you refer family and friends, you can earn even more.
Swagbucks allows you to cash in the points you earn for free gift cards. And they have A LOT of rewards options including Visa gift cards, money through PayPal, Amazon, and Apple. Be sure to redeem ahead of time, as it can take a few days to get the reward emailed to you.
I often go for the rewards that offer discounts. Yes, they offer discounts on the rewards so you can spend fewer points than usual for your reward. So, instead of using 990 points, a reward may be on sale for 800 points. This can help you stretch those gift cards.

4. MyPoints
MyPoints is the app that I have been with the longest. They have many options to earn free gift cards including:
- Playing games
- Completing surveys
- Watching videos
- Printing coupons
- Searching the internet
- Shopping online
They have 85 different free gift card options including Visa, Amazon, and cash via PayPal. The time frame to get the gift cards vary. I have received rewards within hours, and some took a few days. So redeem ahead of time.
MyPoints is a great way to spend your extra time to earn cash and gift cards. I highly recommend it.
5. Capterra
The Coinout app was featured on Shark Tank a while back. This app gives Amazon gift cards, cash via Paypal, and direct deposit for scanning receipts and referring others to the app. The way to earn the most is to refer others. It pays $3 per referral as opposed to .02 cents per receipt.
With them, you will have to cash out ahead of time as it can take up to 10 days to get your money. But they definitely work which is why it’s one of the best apps to earn free gift cards.

6. Shopkick
Shopkick has fun ways to earn free gift cards. Including:
- Scanning items in stores
- Going to stores (walk-ins)
- Scanning receipts
- Shopping using a connected credit card
I have been with Shopkick for many years, and I love giving my daughter my phone and letting her scan items in the aisle while I shop. She loves it, I can get rewards, and even cash out for a free gift card on the spot. Although they have many stores where this can be done, Target is my favorite store for this. Items are easy to find in that store.
I also love going to the mall and doing walk-ins for points at stores. Normally, the mall will have quite a few participating stores, and you don’t even have to walk inside the store, just walk close to the entrance.
Shopkick is reliable, rewards are available almost instantly, and it’s so fun to use. Sign up for Shopkick and get 250 bonus points!
7. Miles
Miles is an app that rewards users for walking, riding bikes, riding in a car, and even flying in a plane! And the rewards are incredible.
Rewards typically include points that can be redeemed for a variety of offers and gift cards. But what makes this one of the best apps to earn free gift cards is their referral program. Each week, Miles will offer a HUGE incentive to share their app with friends and family. A recent incentive was for a $100 Amazon gift card for referring only four people! I have never seen such a large incentive by any app.
To use the app, they will request that your location is on so your travel can be counted. The rewards points are quickly given, and the referral bonuses are given at least once a week.
Of course, the Miles app is free, so be sure to sign up for this one. Plus, you don’t want to miss the random free gift cards they often throw into the app!
