At no additional cost to you, as an affiliate of Amazon and other organizations, I may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post. When you use my links, you also support this single mom. Thanks! Read the privacy policy and disclosure here.
There’s no need to pay out of pocket when shopping.
When you see the phrase, “get free gift cards,” you’re probably thinking SCAM. But, the fact is, it is possible and much easier than you may think.
There are a variety of websites and apps that will give you gift cards by answering surveys, or by downloading an app. As someone that has received over $1,000 worth, I’m going to spill my secrets on how I get them quickly and easily! Read on to see 6 easy ways to get them…
1. FETCH REWARDS
By far, my favorite way to get free gift cards is by using Fetch Rewards. This free app allows you to scan receipts from a variety of stores, and they will give you points that convert to gift cards.
Available gift cards include Amazon, Apple, Target, Starbucks, Whole Foods, and so much more! They also have the option to link your email account, and they will scan your emails for purchases that will earn you cards, as well.
Here’s a screenshot of my most recent gift cards:
Fetch Rewards is totally free. Plus, when you sign up using this link, and scan a receipt, you will get 2,000 points instantly. Every 1,000 points= $1, so you get $2 to start. Plus, they give bonus points for specific items that were purchased.
TIP #1: Receipts that are up to 14 days old can be scanned for points. So, from the moment you sign up, check around your house, your purse, or anywhere you can think of for receipts, and get those points!
TIP #2: Fetch will give you 2,000 points for every friend that signs up using your link. So, after you sign up using my link, send your link to friends via email, text, or even post it on social media, and get more gift cards…faster!
2. CAPTERRA
Capterra is another great way to get free gift cards. Capterra is a website where you can review software in exchange for gift cards. This isn’t one of those sites where you have to do 100 surveys to get $5. I have earned over $50 in gift cards with Capterra in under an hour! Gift cards include MasterCard, Amazon, Target, and more.
The software that you would review, includes many options that we have all used, such as: PayPal, Google Drive, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and many more.
Here’s a screenshot of my most recent email from Capterra, notifying me of my reward:
You can usually get $5 worth of gift cards for every approved review. There is a limit of 10, per month. That can be an easy $50 per month. And the surveys are very simple.
You can start your $5 surveys here. And, if you happened to have used a software called, Squirrly SEO, (for bloggers and website owners), use this link to possibly get $15 for doing a survey. (The bonus may expire at any time).
It usually takes up to 3 weeks to have your review approved. Once it is approved, a link will be e-mailed to you so you can choose your desired gift card. Please note, that there is no guarantee that your survey will be approved. So take note of these tips:
TIP #1: Well-written reviews have a higher chance of approval. So, use spellcheck for your surveys. Grammarly is an awesome, and free software that will check your spelling and grammar.
TIP #2: If a field is not required, and it doesn’t pertain to you (ie., business name, or the number of employees), then skip it. Don’t waste time on fields that don’t matter.
3. SHOPKICK
Out of all these options, Shopkick is the most fun way to earn gift cards. Shopkick is an app that rewards you with points that can be exchanged for gift cards. Earning “walk-in points” and “scan points” are the fun parts. To earn “walk-in points,” you can walk into an affiliated store, while the Shopkick app is open, and they will give you points for doing so.
To sign up and get 250 bonus points, click here. Use code COOL970390, if prompted. Gift cards can be earned for as little as 1,250 points in order to get a $5 gift card.
In order to earn “scan points,” just scan the barcodes of specific items in the store. It’s just like being on a scavenger hunt. If you have kids, let them find the items in the aisle. It’s a great way to keep them distracted and earn gift cards, while you are shopping.
Other ways to earn points is to refer friends (you’ll earn 250 points for each friend that earns points within 7 days of joining). And you can earn points by making purchases. To get points by making purchases, just link your Visa or MasterCard, and make purchases at specified stores.
4. VERIZON UP
Verizon Up is a way for Verizon Wireless customers to get gift cards at no additional cost, just for paying your bills! It’s no cost to join. Verizon Up will usually offer some every month.
The average gift card is $5. I have received gift cards for Amazon, Home Depot, and Target. Around the holidays, they have been known to give $5 gift cards every day, for several days!
Another great reward they offer is Super Tickets. Super Tickets include free tickets to sporting events, concerts, and other forms of entertainment. A timer will count down to the moment when the tickets will become available. Usually, those tickets retail for over $50.
So, if you are quick to submit for your complimentary tickets when the timer reaches “0,” then you get them for $0. I once snagged two tickets to a wine tasting event. Each ticket retailed for $75. So I got $150 worth of tickets!
They also offer Device Dollars that can be used towards the purchase of a new phone or tablet. So if you are a Verizon Wireless customer, be sure to sign up for Verizon Up.
5. INSIDE AMAZON ORDERS
Here is something to pay attention to. If you make a purchase on Amazon, be sure to read any business cards or notes in your order.
I have had items that came with cards from the seller that gave me a good portion of my money back, just for sending a quick email that included my name and order number. Basically, it was a rebate. The last one I submitted, I was sent $30 back from the seller via PayPal within hours!
This option is quite different from the others because it does require a purchase, and there is no guarantee. But, it’s something to keep an eye out for.
TIP: If you are in need of recording equipment, both of these microphones came with rebate cards in their boxes (No guarantee, but I’m giving you a heads up):
6. GET FREE GIFT CARDS USING EMAILS & APPS!
Sign up for emails and/or apps. Many companies will send you free virtual gift cards, rewards, or store credit, just for being on their email list or for downloading their app. And I mean, NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
I have received email store credits/rewards from Kohl’s, Staples, CVS, and others. I was given stuff at no cost from Chick-Fil-A, Dunkin’, Acme, Giant, and more!

TIP: In order to avoid having your main email flooded with offers, open what I call, a “junk email account.” It’s an email account solely to get deals. So, when you are looking for free stuff, you can easily find them, and you don’t have to worry about getting them mixed in with other important emails.
