Indoor fun with kids ideas!
Social distancing is now our reality. We are all in the house and spending much more time with our families than we ever have. Parents are now their children’s only teachers while trying to balance other responsibilities. Instead of allowing the Coronavirus to have us feeling sad, let’s make the best of this extra time we can now spend with our kids. Here are some ideas on what to do with kids to make being indoors much more enjoyable.
1. PLAY GAMES!
Remember back in the day when the internet wasn’t a distraction? Games such as Uno, Monopoly, and Chess were a normal part of every household. Get back to the basics. Teach your kids how to play these types of games. Games build skills such as math, reading, and even patience! It will help bring you closer to your kids when you spend the time to play with them. Show them how to play the games you loved as a kid. It gives you a chance to show them that you were once a kid that loved to have fun too. Yes, mom and dad are real! 2. JOIN ONLINE GROUPS
Just because you are home, doesn’t mean you and the youngsters can’t have contact with the outside world. More than ever, there are options to join others in online groups. There are groups for homeschooled kids, gaming, and many other interests. Some great options to find online groups is Meetup, Eventbrite, and even Goldstar has online options right now. Don’t forget to monitor your children when they are online.
3. VIDEO CHAT
Technology allows us to connect with our friends and family despite being far away. Check-in with others through video chat. Your children will love to see familiar faces, and it will help maintain important relationships. So break out FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, or whichever video chat you prefer, and stay connected. Fun with kids can include others.
4. EXERCISE
Just because schools and the gym may be closed, doesn’t mean that physical activity has to suffer. Working out at home is still an option. There are free workouts available on YouTube, or you can choose a program such as Beachbody which allows you to choose from several workouts programs. The Cize program is so fun! Have fun with kids, and enjoy a dance workout while keeping your bodies fit and healthy.
5. ARTS & CRAFTS
Hands-on activities keep kids busy and give them something to help them remember their efforts. Indoor ideas can be creative. If your kids like to draw, make sure you have paper and pencils available. If your little ones like to color, get a coloring book and crayons. And if they like to craft, get a crafting kit. There are so many options to allow your children to have a creative outlet. Let their creativity soar!
