These 10 money saving hacks can save you big at Walmart!
What you see isn’t necessarily what you’ll get at Walmart. There are hidden discounts, cash back, and even free stuff that you can get from Walmart. Check out these 10 money saving hacks!
1. PRICE MATCH
If you are in Walmart, double-check the price of the item on Walmart.com. Either in the Walmart app or through your web browser. Many times, Walmart.com will have a lower price than what is charged in the store. And they will price-match their own website. You can show the price from your phone.
They also price match their competitors. So, check the prices of places like Target, Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, and more.
To get the competitor’s price match, just show the lower price at the register, from the competitor’s flyer or website, and they will adjust the price of your item.
The item does have to be identical, and in-stock on Walmart.com, or on the competitor’s website to get the price matched. You can see the full Walmart price-match policy here.
2. CLEARANCE CODES HAVE HIDDEN MESSAGES
When you see an item in Walmart, and it’s marked as a clearance item. Be sure to check the ending digit of the clearance sticker. This will tell you if the price will drop even more. Here’s the code breakdown:
- Ends in “7”- This is still the original price. It’s not marked down.
- Ends in “5”- The price was dropped once.
- Ends in “1” or “0”- This is the final markdown. Don’t expect it to get any cheaper.
Knowing these codes can tell you if you’re really getting a bargain or not. So, it’s worth it to remember them.
3. GET MONEY BACK!
When shopping either on Walmart.com, or in the store, be sure to take advantage of cash back opportunities. Apps and websites like Fetch Rewards, Rakuten, and Ibotta, will give you money back or give you gift cards for your purchases. They’re all free! So, sign up for all three. Plus, you can get bonus cash or points when you use the links.
4. STORE PICKUP SAVES YOU TIME AND MONEY!
You don’t have to wait in line inside Walmart, or wait days for your items to be shipped from Walmart.com. Many times, you can opt to do drive up or in-store pickup. Plus, if you use the Ibotta app I mentioned above, you can get cash back for your purchase. What’s better than saving time, and money?
5. FREE BABY BOXES!

I have only found the Freeosk in a local Super Walmart. And it was in the far back of the store! So keep your eyes peeled for this money saving machine.
7. EASY RETURNS WITHOUT A RECEIPT
Having second-thoughts about an item you bought, but can’t find the receipt? Walmart has a great return policy. Even if you don’t have a receipt, you can return items and get CASH.
As long as Walmart sells that item, you can likely return it without hassle. Just be prepared to show I.D. Walmart limits the number of returns without a receipt, and they keep track of this by scanning your identification.

8. GET REFURBISHED ELECTRONICS CHEAP!
The Certified Refurbished section of Walmart.com is one of the best-kept secrets. You can get big ticket items for really cheap. Plus, they come with a 90-day warranty. So you’re sure to get a working item.

- Printers
- and more!

9. COME BACK AFTER THE HOLIDAYS
When holidays are coming up, Walmart get so busy! But, if you want to save big, come back on the day after the holiday for big discounts.
You’d be surprised how cheap candy is after Easter or Halloween. Or how low the prices drop for decorations on December 26th.
So, when it comes to giving gifts to friends and family you won’t even see until after the holidays, visit the day after the holiday, and keep more money in your pockets.
