Looking for ways to get free gift cards? You’re in the right place. I have earned thousands of dollars worth of free gift cards in less than a year, and I’m here to tell you how I did it.
There are several apps and websites willing to give free gift cards in exchange for playing games, watching videos, answering surveys, and even learning!
Whether you need free gift cards to buy something you want, help pay bills, or to earn money for a vacation, knowing how to earn them is an incredible skill to have these days. So, check out these 10 clever ways to get free gift cards!
1. Reviews
There are companies that will pay you to do a review after using a product or service. My favorites for this are DealsBank and Capterra. When you do surveys for them and you can get free gift cards codes sent right to your inbox. And even get cash!
Capterra
Capterra is a website that will give $5 gift cards for doing a quick review on a software that you have used. I have earned gift cards for reviewing PayPal, Microsoft Word, and many more common programs.
Capterra will have to approve your review in order to get the gift card. And you can earn up to 10 gift cards each month. That’s an easy $50/month.
Capterra will pay within 3 weeks of an approved review. And their gift cards include MasterCard, Target, Amazon, and more. Check out Capterra!
2. Surveys
Doing surveys is a popular way to earn free gift cards. But which sites are legit?
My favorites include Survey Junkie, Drop, and InstaGC. Each of these will pay you cash or free gift cards for giving your opinion.
Survey Junkie
Survey Junkie is an app and website that has lots of surveys that can earn you points that can be converted to cash! The low cash-out requirement of $5 makes this platform very appealing.

Drop
Drop is a mighty app with several ways to earn free gift cards. Including answering surveys, playing games, and shopping online for rebates. They also have an abundance of gift card options including Apple, Amazon, and Uber.

InstaGC
InstaGC is a great way to earn free gift cards with an INSTANT payout. This site lets you earn points by watching videos, doing surveys, or redeeming offers.
The abundance of gift card options on this site is none like I’ve ever seen. They have all the main gift cards like Amazon and Target.
But they also have IKEA, Build-A-Bear, and many more out-of-the-box rewards.

3. Learning
Did you know you can get free gift cards for learning? It’s true! I’ve earned about $300 in free gift cards from the Zogo app in just 3 months.
The Zogo app rewards you with free gift cards for learning about finance. They are affiliated with banks and credit unions and they have lots of gift cards to choose from.
Zogo has gift cards for Target, Best Buy, Amazon, and so many more. Zogo is a must-have app. So, use my referral link (code: NIKKIM6) sign up for free.

4. Scan Receipts
Scanning receipts is an easy way to earn free gift cards. It’s definitely my favorite way. My favorite apps for this are Fetch Rewards and Ibotta.
Fetch Rewards
Fetch Rewards gives INSTANT gift cards when you earn at least 3,000 points for scanning receipts. It’s so easy to earn the 3k. They give 2,000 points for scanning your first receipt.
Gift card options include Visa, Amazon, Target, even Red Lobster. I’ve earned over $1,000 in free gift cards in the last year using this app.
To make the most of Fetch Rewards, scan any receipt you get, including those received at grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations. You will get bonus points if you purchased an item that is featured that week.
They also have a free rewards debit card that will give you a percentage back in points for all of your purchases.’
Get the free Fetch Rewards app, and don’t forget to scan that first receipt for 2,000 points!
Ibotta
Ibotta is an app that will pay cash and/or free gift cards for scanning receipts. They pay via PayPal, direct deposit, or an abundance of free gift cards options.
This app has been around for many years. So far, I’ve earned over $700 from this app.
The main way to earn using Ibotta, is by marking the items you want to earn cash back for, scan the receipt, and they usually apply your earnings within a couple hours. Many times, within minutes.
Other ways to earn include buying gift cards (they will give you a percentage back for them) or shopping online.
But don’t take my word for it. Check out the Ibotta app. And get a cash bonus for signing up!
5. Go On Missions
This is legit. You can go on shopping missions and earn free gift cards. This is done by using the Shopkick app.
I’ve earned hundreds of dollars by using several methods to earn points on Shopkick. They include:
- Walking into stores.
- Scanning the barcodes of items in the store.
- Scanning receipts.
- Shopping online.
I love going to the store with my daughter and we do missions in the mall by walking into stores, or scanning items. It’s like a scavenger hunt to find the items and get rewarded for the scan. And it keeps the kids busy and distracted while shopping.
My favorite thing about Shopkick is you can get your free gift card INSTANTLY. And they have gift cards for Target, Xbox, GameStop, Amazon, and many more.

6. Play Games
For those of you that like to play games, this is where you can earn big! Many apps and websites are willing to give you free gift cards, and even cash for playing games. Some of the ones not mentioned yet are:
InboxDollars
With InboxDollars, you can earn cash for playing games. For U.K. residents, it’s InboxPounds.
They will also pay you to do surveys, shop online, and redeem offers. And they will give you $5 bonus for signing up! This is a legit app that has been around for a long time.

MyPoints
MyPoints is the first gift card app (they also have a website) that I ever signed up for about 10 years ago. And I still use them.
It’s easy to earn points with this platform by playing games, watching videos, printing coupons, and so much more.
MyPoints has over 85 different options for free gift cards including Nike, Visa, and PayPal. So, you can get real money from this app!
This is definitely worthy of being called one of the best ways to earn free gift cards.

Swagbucks
Another one of my faves is Swagucks. They are just like MyPoints, but they also have another app called Swagbucks Live.
You can log in to the Swagbucks Live trivia gameshow on your phone, and earn Swagucks (points for free gift cards). This is in addition to the many ways to earn Swagbucks by playing games, watching videos, doing surveys, and more.
Swagucks has an enormous amount of free gift cards to choose from including PayPal, Visa, Apple, too many to name.
Sign up for the Swagucks app or website, and get a nice sign-up bonus!
7. Watch Videos
Yup! Get paid to be lazy. You can get paid to watch videos online. This can be done with many of the apps and websites named above including InboxDollars, MyPoints, and Swagucks. So, be sure to check them out.
8. Shop Online
Again, many of the platforms named above will give you free gift cards as rebates for shopping online. Including Drop, DealsBank, and I have yet to mention Rakuten.
Rakuten
I have earned over $1100 with Rakuten so far. With this app/website, you can shop online, and get a percentage of your money back. This also includes buying online and pickup up at the store.
To use Rakuten, just go on their app or website, find the store at which you want to shop, and use Rakuten to take you to that site. From there, you shop like normal, but you can get a chunk of your total back as a rebate. They even have promo codes to save you even more money.
Rakuten will pay cash every 3 months for whatever cash back you accumulated. They pay in February, May, August, and November. You can choose to have the money sent via direct deposit or PayPal. They sometimes offer free gift cards, as well.
The best part is, Rakuten pays a huge bonus when you sign up and shop online. Simple! Their incentives do change, but the bonus is usually at least $25. As of this posting, they are offering a $30 sign-up bonus. This bonus is stacked on your regular cash back!
So, if you plan to shop at any store online, then it’s a no-brainer to use Rakuten to take you over to that site and earn your bonus and regular cash back.

9. Travel
The Miles app is a great way to earn free Amazon gift cards for your normal travel. They will reward points for riding in a car, a plane, even walking.
The points can be redeemed for offers, which sometimes include free gift cards. But the best ways to earn free gift cards in this app are to turn on your notifications, and they often have impromptu gift card giveaways.

10. Referrals
As mentioned several times above, most free gift card apps and websites will give you free gift cards for referring friends and family.
If you don’t have a large circle of friends or family, just post your referral code on your social media. Sometimes appealing to people and letting them know you are trying to earn a free gift card to pay bills, buy food, or some other reason may prompt them to help you by using your code.
However you choose to do it, referrals are a great way to earn a passive income by sharing your code. You can potentially earn free gift cards and cash in your sleep!
